The Curse of the Pharaohs
It took me quite a bit longer to get into the second Amelia Peabody mystery… not sure if I just wasn’t feeling the story or if it was so completely different than the last few books I’ve read. The novel ended up being relatively entertaining, with enough background info that you probably don’t have to read these in order.

State of Wonder
The first 90% of this book was great. I immediately got sucked into the story and the descriptive writing was well done. However, the end made absolutely no sense in relation to the rest of the book and I was very disappointed with the bow-tie on the package.

Home
This was my first Toni Morrison book and I was underwhelmed. It’s very short so it was hard to get to know the characters well, although I didn’t really like any of them, so I guess it was for the best. There were a few poetic moments of storytelling here and there but in the end, I just couldn’t connect enough to care.
