The screened deck, pt.VI

by | Oct 9, 2011 | Daily life, House

Though we’ve been enjoying the new screened deck since late August it was not quite complete– we’d been waiting for the wood to cure a bit before staining. This week was finally time:

exterior side
We used a grey stain that matched our house for most of the exterior and white on the columns to match the trim on the house.

Exterior front
Mostly white facing the woods

the view out to the porch from our living room

The grey on the interior is the lightest shade of grey (Driftwood) that we could find. We specified opaque on the floor for durability and semi-transparent for the ceiling to allow the plywood grain to come through.

We are being extra cautious and allowing a few days for the stain to fully dry before we move our furniture back in. The final inspection should be later this week, and with the addition of the long-awaited rope lights, we’ll be complete on this project!

Next up on the house renovation schedule: a kitchen facelift and yard renovations around the new deck.
