Summer concerts

One week, two shows in two cities – that’s how we celebrate Leandra’s birthday!

Aug 12 – The Killers, Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh

Outdoor concerts can be an iffy proposition in the south with the potential for hot temps and/or rain. This time around it had been a 90 degree day so the air and ground were still warm after dark. The sweat was worth it though, as our tickets were in the general admission pit area, so we had a good view of an awesome show.

Aug 16 – OneRepublic, Uptown Amphitheatre in Charlotte

Five nights later we experienced radically different conditions – 62 degrees at a smaller venue in uptown Charlotte. Once again, we had general admission tickets, but this pit is about 1/3 the size of Raleigh so the view was even better. One standout moment – Ryan Tedder covering the Ray Charles ‘I Got a Woman’ then segueing into the Kanye West ‘Golddigger’ with a call and response from the crowd. This was probably the best concert we’ve been to since Muse.
