Euro Trip 2025: Turin, overview and where we stayed

by | Dec 23, 2025 | Travel

For the final leg of our Fall European 2025 tour, we spent a week in Turin / Torino. Located in the northwest of Italy, close to the Alps, it is the capital of the Piedmont region, and a part of Italy we hadn’t yet visited. Turin was a royal capital for several centuries, and part of France in the 1800s, all of which lead to a city with some interesting architecture.

Some notes and observations:

  • This is big city with lots of transport options – metro, tram, bus, even a small bus on the tighter streets!
  • City market area around us was crazy – everything was packed up for evening, unpacked by 8a. Impressive trash pickup too.
  • There are few free sites to visit in town, and most tourist attractions are expensive, so making a plan for the Torino+Piemonte card is a good idea.

Archi&Med House apartment

Located on the 3rd floor, thankfully it has a small elevator which was really helpful for our luggage. The apartment is a one-bedroom with kitchen and living room. After a month with little natural light, the windows on both sides of the apartment were welcome! The couch was ok, cover kept slipping but generally comfortable.

Leandra was happy that the kitchen had a nice Lavazzo machine and pods, and it had just about everything we needed except a veggie peeler. As a bonus, the view to the north was nice, and we could see the Alps on the clear days.

The bathroom had good water pressure, plenty of hot water, huge towels, and storage space under the sink. Underfloor heating throughout the apartment definitely kept the place feeling cozy.

We worked a little from the apartment and the wifi was adequate for a zoom session at 17 up / 17 down, but could get stressed with two sessions. There was a small desk in the bedroom, plus a good amount of storage and closet space.

The location was quite central too – under 10 minutes walk to Piazza Castello, surrounded by restaurants, tram/bus lines, and both a flea market and fruit/veg vendors around the corner.

Overall, a lovely stay in a well-maintained apartment with everything we needed!
