It’s our anniversary but I also want to talk about my new kitchen pantry

Twelve years ago Eric and I got married! Here’s what we looked like a few days before the wedding —

we were kids! :)

Then, four years later, we bought a house with a kitchen that looked like this —

We’ve been in this house for over eight years and while we made several improvements to the kitchen in late-2011, the two pantries had remained in their original state.

Until recently!

A friend of ours from church does some handiwork jobs so we had him help us out with making the main pantry closet a much more useable space.

The pantry was a few sheets of plywood about 2.5 feet deep so I could never find anything if it managed to work it’s way to the back. This is a fairly large space but much it was really unusable in the current configuration. So, we decided to put in u-shaped shelving with a deeper shelf along the back wall and thinner shelves on the sides.

Ta da! I can now see everything in the pantry at a glance and there is still plenty of space for storage. I can even walk in here and shut the door behind me if I was so inclined.

To conclude — a very happy anniversary to the best travel partner a girl could have and may we have a few more of these experiences in our future…
