day before the big day

On the day of the rehearsal dinner, Eric and I took the train downtown a little early to take advantage of the Art Institute of Chicago’s free admission summer days after 5pm. We had a little extra time, so we wandered around Millennium Park and watched everyone take photos of themselves and friends at The Cloud Gate, aka The Bean. It was our first time here!

The skyline view, while not the classic one, was still pretty great.

On our way to catching a cab to Holy Name cathedral, we quickly snapped a few photos of the living photo wall and were even lucky enough to get a fountain shot!

Wedding prep

We are in Chicago for Lauren and Michael’s wedding. Last night, Friday, we went to the rehearsal at Holy Name cathedral, followed by a tasty dinner at Wildfire.

Leandra was up very, very early Saturday morning to start the maid-of-honor process, while I got to sleep in a bit. Reminds me of our wedding 8 years ago :) More photos to come soon…

it’s a hot one today

We will be stuck inside for the next few days as it’s supposed to be in the upper 90s which means shorter walks with pup; she looks like this when we get home…

hot schnauzer - almost 100 today!

Her collar is on because she can’t stop licking her shaved front leg from when they put in the IV for her dental cleaning two weeks ago. So she will be silly looking until that heals up.

wine bottle oopsie

This post about embarrassing moments in bottle opening over on Dr. Vino had me thinking back to Eric’s mishap with a fancy and extremely hard to use bottle opener in Montana.

We managed to get most of the wine out of his shirt.
