five weeks later
Riesling has been healing amazingly well and it’s becoming much harder (thankfully) to see her scars. We’ve come a long way from 60 staples, exploratory surgery and one broken rib, back to a healthy and active pup.
Thank God.
I have been taking periodic photos and it’s obvious how well she has healed in the five short weeks since mid-May.

She just came back from a short stint at Camp Bow Wow and everything went just fine. We’ll probably head back to the dog park sometime this week to see how she handles other dogs around us. I imagine it will be a harder adjustment for me than for her.

I’m so happy your pup is doing well! Animals bounce back much better than us humans, I think.
Poor pup, glad she is healign well. Did this happen at a dog park?
Jessica – Yes, at Parkwood in the “open area.”
Becca – Indeed! I am probably more worried about the dog park than she is! We have noticed that she’s more nervous around bigger dogs now, so it may take a little while for her to get comfortable again.
Glad to see she’s doing so much better! The dog park at Northgate Park feels like a more controlled environment than Parkwood if you’re looking for an alternative.
I notice that Riesling does a lot of lying around. I wonder if she can give me some tips on how to make this happen for myself. (or at least for my dogs…)
No kidding… I wish this was her typical position, but alas, it’s much harder to photograph her when she’s running around and barking. :)
Oh my gosh! You are all braver than me! I want to stop going to dog parks just on the knowledge that this can happen. :( (Actually we don’t go very often anyway because Fritz is one reactive rescue puppy, and they stress him out instead of giving him a chance to play/socialize.) I’m glad Riesling is feeling better though! Poor puppy.
