going through the trash to save money
Before Eric left for Kansas city, we decided on a paint color and picked out the drapes for the master bedroom; we bought two panels and a curtain rod at JCPenney. When I went back this afternoon to pick up another panel for the side window, it rang up eight bucks cheaper! It had been a week, but I figured I’d bring in the old receipt to see if they would do a price adjustment.
Now, where was that receipt?
After searching the entire house (twice), it occured to me that it may have been accidently thrown out when I cleaned the bedroom. Ugh. I pulled on the rubber gloves and headed out to the trash, fully aware that it’s been 90 degrees for the last few days and thanking my lucky stars I had not put the garbage bin out this morning.
Finally! Under all the trash! At the very bottom of the bag! Eureka!
I found a wonderful manager at JCPenney that gave me the difference back even though it had technically been eight days, one day past their adjustment policy deadline. Completely worth sixteen dollars. :)
No commentsfor sale by co-worker
A co-worker of mine (the same one who lent me Wicked) is selling her home and asked if I could put together a simple and attractive website for her. Of course! Eric and I drove out to her place a few weekends ago, met the husband, pet the dog, and took some photos. She’s already had one call and visit based on the website, so it might not be needed much longer!

Eric was back just long enough for lunch, an outdoor movie, and to caption the photos from his trip to Kansas City. He is now on his way up to Virginia for a teaching workshop and I am on my way to Home Depot for some primer and fertilizer!

I had the opportunity to walk around the museum campus of Kansas City this afternoon and had a great time checking out the sculpture gardens. I’ve posted two pics below and I’ll have more when I get back.

Wicked: The Life and Times of…
I finally get to read this book! One of my co-workers told me she had it (and that I was welcome to borrow it) after I mentioned I’m 16th in line for the library’s copy.

Even though I am happily distracted by an intense hockey game, I managed to complete all the spackling, priming, and edging in our bedroom.

brave purple, indeed
Because I am antsy (and needed help with the crown molding, thanks Eric!), our bedroom trim was taped off last night and I bought paint this afternoon. We liked this color but knew it would dry darker so I had the helpful men at the paint shop make me a gallon of 80% brave purple in satin. The satin will reflect some light and it should dry a few shades lighter than the original color. (crosses fingers). It’s very purple.
