Tenant Creek Falls 2
photo taken 6/21/2008
Location: New York
Note: It's hard to get a good shot of this falls from the obvious vantage point, so bring a zoom lens if you have one. It was outrageously buggy here in mid-June, so bring your DEET.
Directions: This waterfall is located in Adirondack State Park. To reach the trailhead, take NY 30 just south of Hope and make a left onto Creek Road. After 3 miles make a left onto Hope Falls Road and take this to the very end, about 3.5 miles. Make sure to follow the signs to Wilcox Lake, there will be a parking area for several cars where the road dead-ends. The hike isn't particularly difficult, but it meanders quite a bit and it's easy to get off track, as long as you stay near the creek you'll be fine. A few minutes into the hike you'll see a wooden bridge, make a right in front of the bridge and you'll reach the first falls after about 15 minutes. Continue upstream for another mile or so and you'll reach the second falls. The third falls is just a few minutes walk further. We estimated about 4 miles roundtrip to all three falls, very lovely setting.
