The photos from my latest 5K are online. I didn't get under 30 minutes like I wanted to, but I did beat my last time by 45 seconds. :)

In case you aren't one of the people that carefully reads the sidebar on this page, I should probably point out that Eric and I will be taking a trip to Cape Town in the spring. No, that isn't a typo, we bought tickets to South Africa on Tuesday. We will be staying with my aunt Veda who has lived there for many years and I will finally get to meet my uncle and cousins for the first time. :) A few of the things we definitely want to do are as follows: Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Two Oceans Aquarium, Robben Island, the World of Birds, lots of wine tasting, hike or take a cable car to the top of Table Mountain, see penguins at Boulder's Beach and visit a 'Big 5' game park. We have two whole weeks there and I simply cannot wait to go!

In other news, my second 5K is tomorrow and although I feel more prepared than last time, I'm still a little nervous. I am trying to approach this as a workout session instead of a race... I'll post the results and probably photos after the event.

We switched hosts a few months back and I realized that my comments haven't been working because of the php coding. If you have been trying to get ahold of me and have been stopped by error messages, everything has now been fixed. Feel free to contact me at your leisure.

Saw a very good movie last night, Levity. It's not for everyone, but I enjoyed the character development and Billy Bob Thornton and Holly Hunter were great.

In addition to our new ReplayTV, we recently purchased additional memory for our laptop. It was acting mighty cranky when I tried to run Photoshop and Dreamweaver at the same time, so this extra 512MB should help nicely. Eric also managed to score a Netgear wireless router for $25 after rebates thanks to his Amazon Gold Box so that's also on the way. Now he's scoping out new receivers. I am told after reading all the boards for home theater nuts (mostly men), that he feels lucky to have a wife that will let him do/get all this stuff. :)

So, let's see... yesterday the Bears lost, the Bucs lost, the Falcons lost and the Cubs lost. I'm 0-4.

In other news, we just purchased a wireless router so now I can get photos off Eric's computer in the back room while I'm sitting in the living room with the notebook. Excellent! And speaking of photos, the Chicago Botanical Gardens and Museum Campus pics are now up.

For those of you who have been following the snail count for the past year, I have some sad news. The original snail passed away while we were in Chicago. Its shell has been donated to a friend of mine who collects them and there are at least another 40 or so babies reamining. I haven't decided whether or not to "save" one snail and let it get big enough to make little copies of itself. I have a feeling I will never be rid of these creatures despite my best efforts, regardless.

In this month-long hiatus, we have been relaxing, traveling and celebrating. We just returned home on Wednesday evening from our trip up to Chicago for a friend's wedding. Fourteen hours in a car each way is incredibly tiring and we are taking the weekend to watch some football and work on some more photos from the trip. I believe Eric will be playing around with our new ReplayTV. :)

Monday marked our two year anniversary and we spent it downtown in Chicago visiting the Field Museum, eating at Tavern on Rush and spending the night at the Omni Ambassador East. The next day we met some friends for coffee and spent a wonderful two hours at the Chicago Botanical Gardens.

Rundown:
Field Museum - Sue was pretty incredible and they had hundreds of bird and mammal specimens, no way could you see this entire museum in one day. The gem exhibit was also interesting, I didn't know that tigers eye is petrified asbestos.
Tavern on Rush - food was excellent but overpriced, wine menu was very overpriced.
Omni Ambassador East - whoever rated this hotel as four stars/boutique on Priceline should be fired.
Coffee with friends - small chai latte: $3, first time holding a baby and getting pooped on: priceless
Chicago Botanical Gardens - Beautiful! If you live in Chicago and haven't gone yet, what are you waiting for???

Photos of the Field Museum and the Chicago Botanical Gardens will be up soon, the wedding photos are up here. Enjoy!
