Happy Halloween everyone!

I will post more photos after our night out on the town and camping trip this weekend. We managed to score some firewood from a coworker, so we shouldn't have to scrounge around the campsite for dry wood. We don't have camping reservations at the state park where we are planning to stay, but they do have unreserved walk-in sites available. Plus, we'll get to see several waterfalls and hike in some beautiful surroundings whether we spend the night or not.

In the meantime, help us root for the Dawgs to beat the Gators!

After entering in all the wine notes last night to our database from the festival last weekend, I discovered we actually tasted over 50 wines between the two of us. We certainly got our money's worth.

No hiking was done this weekend as my hip flexor was bothering me a bit and it was generally crappy weather all day Sunday. On Saturday, we picked up some artwork for payment on a website I created for a local artist and then I stressed myself out listening to the Bulldogs nearly lose to UAB on the radio since the homecoming game wasn't televised.

I am currently working on our Halloween costumes, since we've been invited out on the town with a few friends from work. We hope to also make it camping this weekend, so Friday night might be a bit tamer for us than most.

Photos are up from our camping trip two weekends ago and our hiking on the Russell-Brasstown scenic parkway last Saturday.

I also revamped our waterfall photography pages. My favorite shots from the last two weeks are Horse Trough Falls, Dicks Creek Fallls, and Helton Creek Falls.

The Fall Wine Festival on Sunday was great. I tried the reds while Eric tasted the whites. I think we covered about 40 wines in three hours between the two of us. Plenty of generous pouring and lots of good snacks left us full for the rest of the evening.

I will be attending a computing conference over the next two days and this weekend we are planning a local trip up to the Tallulah area for more waterfall hiking. I am also putting together an itinerary for a camping trip to see some South Carolina waterfalls possibly next weekend. More photos to come. :)

I had my first overnight in a tent this weekend at Vogel State Park. We drove up there on Sunday, snagged a walk-in tent site for $10, set everything up and wandered around to several waterfalls that afternoon. We got back to the campsite around 6:30 and Eric started a fire so we could heat up our hot dogs and buns for dinner. We bought an air mattress and a rechargeable lantern at the Coleman outlet store on Friday night in Commerce and both came in handy. On Monday morning we packed everything up and saw a few more waterfalls including Amicalola Falls (along with seemingly EVERYone else in Georgia) before heading home. All in all it was a great experience... 8 waterfalls and 7 miles of hiking. I can't wait to go camping again! Next time we will be sure to remember the marshmallows. Photos will be up sometime this week along with a revamped waterfalls page.

Tonight we will be rooting hard for Mark Prior and the Cubbies!

Watching the Cubs beat the Braves last night was the most wonderful experience, but mostly, I am thrilled for my gram who at 84 is the biggest and most loyal Cubs fan I know and the reason I love the Cubbies as much as I do! If only my grandfather was around to see this, I know just how proud and happy he would have been.

Uga (pronouced Ouh-ga) VI is the immensely popular white bulldog mascot here at UGA. Apparently he stays at the Georgia Center (where I work) and has a very nice ride. There are a ton of people checking in at the moment and I saw a little girl pushing a stroller with her doll in it... and what was the doll holding? Yes, a little stuffed Uga doll with a red and black jersey. Must be home football game time!

The Cubs won their first game against the Braves on the road. *sniff* I am so proud.

I made several calls to campsites around northern GA and all seem to be booked through the month of October. However, I think we are going to chance it and try for a walk-in site possibly this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted.

I decided to repost my training log, which has been updated with all of my workouts from the last year, including my race times from the two 5Ks. I'm hoping it will become a triathlon training journal after I complete a couple more 5Ks and eventually a 10K race.
