I added new pics of our backyard last night.

We will be buying more plants at the farmer's market on Saturday, so expect more photos again soon.

Eric's birthday BBQ was a great success. Tons of food and beautiful weather, now if we can just get the hot tub working!

In case you don't ever see our front page, it's been updated for summer (finally).

I plan to post some photos from the Montrose gardens tonight and add some updates to our backyard pages.

Meanwhile, I have a huge list of creative NC license plates piling up since I haven't shared any in a while, so here are some I've seen in the last month:

TRAVELBG (on a VW bug)
TELOMERE (on a Ferrari)
4TH&GOAL
NOT HER$ (on a huge truck)
EZTOLOVE
WORLD VU
SKYD1VER
LIL MINX

I already know we are big geeks, but just so everyone else knows, I'll go ahead and say I am really looking forward to seeing Revenge of the Sith tonight. :)

Eric's birthday is on Sunday and we decided to have a bunch of folks over for a BBQ at our new place. Even though this was kinda at the last minute, almost everyone we invited is coming! Yikes! So, during lunch I shopped the sales at two grocery stores for meat, assorted buns and soda. I'm grilling hamburgers and hot dogs and making my gram's unbeatable potato salad. Yum!

Of course, that's not all we're up to this weekend. A friend's birthday is on Friday, so it looks like we'll be going out to dinner with a big group tomorrow night. On Saturday, the Montrose Gardens in Hillsborough opens up for free (normally $10 a person) so we are heading over there in the morning. We may try to make it to the Raleigh Farmers Market before then, but we'll see how early we feel like getting up.

I just checked our couch order online and the status has changed! Expected delivery from the manufacturer to the store is June 13! Who knows how long it will take to be "processed" by the store for delivery to our home, but at least I have a time-frame.

I also picked up tickets for Star Wars next Thursday evening. We're not so hard core that I can stay up until 4am watching the midnight showing when I have to go to work the next day, but our friends (who convinced us to go on opening day in the first place) can't make it until the 10:20pm show on Thursday night. So, it looks like I'll be fairly dead the next day anyway. :)

Buying the tickets more of an ordeal that I would have imagined. We live less than a mile from the movie theatre, so we just popped over on Tuesday night to pick up the tickets. However, all the credit card machines were down and my $1 left over from the farmer's market wasn't going to get us four movie tickets. I refused (out of principle) to pay the ATM fees at the mall ATM, so I decided to come back the following morning and use the automated ticket dispensers. What I didn't know is that they bring those things inside when the theatre is closed. Ok, fine, I'll come back again at lunch. I arrive at 11:30a to find the theatre closed. Thankfully, I remembered the ticket machine inside the mall and even more thankfully it actually worked (it was also down on Tuesday night and the mall was losed Wednesday morning at 7:15a). Anyway, I have the tickets and am eagerly awaiting Ewan McGregor on screen.

We attended our first minor league baseball game on Monday night. I still haven't seen Bull Durham, but now I've seen the Durham Bulls play!

There's nothing like a swarm of bees outside your building to renew some energy at work. Very cool!

I've just added the yard pictures from the last two weeks to our garden section. I'll be adding more photos regularly as our garden grows.

On Friday, Eric and a friend drove 3.5 hours to Asheville for a concert. Then drove back the same night. This is what happens when you have a friend whose spouse is a doctor who can't get off work to use concert tickets they bought weeks before. When I was a junior in college, I drove three friends up to Atlanta (7.5 hours each way) to see James in concert. They only played three cities in the US that tour and broke up a short time afterwards. We spent the night at one of the girl's cousins' place and headed back to St. Pete the next day. Loooong weekend, but completely worth it. I think Eric liked The Shins as well.

We took it easy on Saturday and did a little more shopping at Lowes and played around with the gas heater on the hot tub. The pumps are not priming properly and we are both at a loss as to how to deal with the problem. We already paid someone to come out and take a look last Friday and when he got there he said he didn't know much about gas spas. Great. Just great.

We also put up fencing around our veggie and cut flowers garden due to some rabbit sightings. I have a bunch of photos of our garden progress, I hope to have that section up soon.

In other news, the pastel site that I designed a few weeks ago went live this weekend. Now they are trying to convince me to be an officer next year! :) I should probably start painting again soon...
