About a month ago, I decided the only way to keep my motivation high in terms of working out was to sign myself up for a 5K. On Saturday I got up at 7am, drove to Sandy Creek park and ran 3.1 miles in my first real race. Photos to prove it are here. I didn't win my age group or anything, but I did about 2 minutes better than I had hoped for - 30:55. :)

I've been awfully sleepy the last few days and this morning was the first in three days that I woke up before my alarm went off (like normal). I refuse to resort to coffee. Perhaps a little tea at lunch will do the trick. I have a lot of projects to complete at work, but enough time to do all of them before we leave next week. Now if I could just stay awake...

We rented Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil on Monday night and I finally got to see the famous Savannah movie. Eric had seen the film a while back, but liked it enough to watch it again with me. I enjoyed seeing a whole bunch of the places we saw in person a few weeks ago on screen. Next time we are making a trip out of the historic district to Bonaventure Cemetery.

It's rather obvious that I haven't felt much like writing in this space lately. The truth is, I have been spending all my time actually enjoying the things that I would normally write about here...

Our trip to New York was great. The weather was much cooler than the 90+ we've been experiencing in Georgia lately. The wedding was a lot of fun and I got to meet a bunch of people I've heard about since Eric and I started dating but had never met before in person.

We have a full schedule this week - a Spanish wine tasting on Tuesday, friends for dinner on Thursday (?) and seeing Everclear and a few other bands On the Bricks after work on Friday.

We hadn't planned anything for the 4th of July except grilled burgers and corn (yum!), so when we got a call from a co-worker of mine to hang out and watch some fireworks, we were game. Eight of us took two cars and plenty of beverages to a nearby park and camped out for an impressive fireworks display. We hung around talking for a while afterwards to avoid the traffic gridlock and then went downtown for some beer and a late night snack at the Grill. We haven't stayed out until 3am in years and, consequently, Saturday was a lazy day.

We did manage to do a little rearranging in our spare bedroom/office. I'll post before and after pictures when we are done with the transformation.

UPDATE: the office rearranging went very well, but unfortunately, the photos I took don't really show the amount of space created by shuffling a few pieces of furniture around.
