We have a had a fairly mild winter here (it was about 65 during the day yesterday) and because of this, there has been some new growth around our house. The cyclamen Eric planted several weeks ago has leaves popping up and the dafodils the previous owners planted are showing themselves as well. We also have a hungry and agile squirrel nearby (one of several).

Taking advantage of the warm weather this weekend, Eric started to dig out the stump of a holly tree we had taken down last fall. We want to move our veggie garden here from the opposite side of the backyard in the hopes that the peppers and tomatoes will have a better showing this year with more direct sunlight. It's looking to be a huge project... Eric has already (jokingly) suggested that we may as well put a pond there since he's already dug the hole!

A couple of weekends ago we had some visitors to our backyard (cedar waxwings). We are now almost out of seeds and berries on our trees! By the way, this shot was thanks to a puddle of water on our deck, we have since put out two water dishes... one on the deck and one by the feeder.

I feel like I am at this stage when I get carded I feel a mix of relief (ha, I still look young) and annoyance (I am, afterall, 29, don't I look old enough to buy wine?) All the more interesting when the purchase is pale sherry at the supermarket, which at $4 a bottle, is not for drinking purposes.

I just read one of the nicest things about our little ole website over here. I am not nearly as gifted a writer as some of the other blogs I read but I am flattered regardless to be an inspiration to another. A lot of the journals I read back then are no longer around... but I want to take this opportunity to thank Dawn specifically for the inspiration to create a wedding website that has become so much more.

I am still trying to get out from under this enormous stack of papers at work, hopefully things will get better once classes start next week... I did find some time to post our Christmas photos, however. Our friends from Kenya spent the holiday with us and Eric's family in NY as they don't have many relatives nearby. We had a lovely time and Jeter got even more attention than he normally does. :)

We've been watching obscene amounts of football and because I stayed up to watch UGA lose on Monday night, I couldn't stay awake to watch the amazing Penn State/FSU game last night that went into triple overtime. At least the Bears won't lose this week (they have a first round bye)!
