december 30 ![]() -link to this day- @ 12p | 2 cents... We are back from out East Coast drive to and from LI, NY for Christmas. It took us about 11 hours each way and we managed to miss a lot of heavy traffic through a series of alternate routes to avoid I-95. Both Eric and I made off with tons of loot -- a Xyron 50 machine (L), several pairs of pants (E), The Office DVD box set (L), Better Than Ezra DVD (E), North Carolina Beaches and Waterfalls books, lots of ornaments (mostly Opus & Bill!) and tons of stocking stuffers. Christmas photos from NY are posted here and I will be uploading more NC photos in the next few days. I'm at work today and then I have a three day weekend to sleep and relax before the "real world" starts up again. Luckily it should be about 70 degrees here this weekend, so we may be taking a nice bike ride around town. And if you'll notice, we added a few movies to out recently viewed list. Annually, one of the most 'interesting' parts of our holiday vacation. :) december 16 ![]() -link to this day- @ 12p | 2 cents... Both Eric and I discovered some silliness today at the expense of EndNote and Philosophy bath products, respectively. ![]() "nothing went wrong! amazing!" ![]() "whatever, just buy it, it will make you smell like pie or something" Curiously, when I refreshed the page the desCription was there. Curious, indeed. Thank goodness for screen captures. december 15 ![]() -link to this day- @ 8a | 2 cents... I've been a huge fan of Chai tea for a while and instead of my regular purple box type I decided to give the Oregon Chai Nog a try in the spirit of the holidays. It's tasty good and I like the box commentary: It happens to everyone. Your holiday spirit gets ticked off and won't come out of the house. Not for sleigh rides. Not for Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. And not for any of that damned figgy pudding. So your favorite chai-heads up in Oregon put our pointy ears to the ground and came up with an antidote. Chai Nog: the official drink of the sugar plum fairy. In case you haven't noticed the last three paintings I've posted on here, I've added them to my art website. We mailed out all of our Christmas cards last week, so hopefully most folks have them by now. The tradition of designing our own cards is strong and there might be a mutiny if folks receive store-bought cards from us in years to come. :) We looked at a house and townhouse yesterday and that was all the time we had in my lunch hour. So we meet again on Saturday at 9am to look at the remaining three on our list. Our agent seems to think that there will be more places available after the new year so I think at this point we are just trying to get a better idea of what we really want for our first home! december 12 ![]() -link to this day- @ 11p | 2 cents... Our events on Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun all went swimmingly and we have a few days off before we host a party at our place on Wed night this week. The opening reception for the pastel art show is on Sat. and we are having a friend over for dinner on Fri. We are meeting with our realtor during lunch on Tues and Wed to begin looking at some houses and somehow I need to start spending some time at the gym. I managed 2.5 miles on the treadmill on Sat, but I'm a little ways from running another race anytime soon. december 5 ![]() -link to this day- @ 7p | 2 cents... After church we spent most of the afternoon Christmas shopping in Durham. We picked up some little things for the various grab bags we are participating in over the next two weeks and bought a bunch of stuff to send to my aunt, uncle and cousins in South Africa. My new job is going quite well, I have picked up on a few tricks already but the true test will come down to the deadlines in January. I get the feeling it's going to be challenging but rewarding work. I also finished a new painting last week... enjoy! ![]() |
