London Nov 2014: Old Spitalfields and Camden Markets

by | Nov 20, 2014 | International Travel, Travel

Many markets are open on the weekends in London, so we decided to grab a pastry to eat on the Tube and head back to east London for some shopping.

Old Spitalfields Market — This is a huge indoor marketplace with all sorts of clothes, food, artwork, gift items, etc. We really enjoyed wandering through the stalls and came home with a bunch of goodies including a new travel wallet (made from an old tube map) and t-shirt for Eric and a gorgeous gray tote bag and lace mini skirt for me. There are great deals to be had here as well as some beautiful handmade items for fair prices.

Camden Market — a popular stop on Sunday in general, and our second trip to this market. We started with a tasty chicken tikka from one of the canal-side food stalls. After being entertained by the seagulls trying to outsmart each other for food, we wandered around the various parts of the market looking for some good bargains. Eric tried on a bunch of fedoras but none seemed to fit him perfectly, so we went on the hunt for a t-shirt shop we liked from 2012. It wasn’t in the same location but we found it! Eric picked up one shirt and I also found one. We also made time to check out a few murals in the area.

We were lugging around quite a few things at this point so we headed back to the hotel to drop off our purchases and change for dinner with my aunt and uncle in Chiswick.
