sand and surf on South Beach

The Creative Suites conference ran from 8:30am until past 5pm everyday, so I had to make a concerted effort to see the beach. Last Thursday I woke up early, threw on some shorts, and walked down to the sand.

The beachfront is dotted with these colorful lifeguard shacks, although no lifeguards are on duty. The hotel personnel use these to watch for people setting up chaise lounges and umbrellas so they can collect their money. In some cases over $60 for one lounger and a cabana tent.

This early in the morning, my company consisted of people who had stayed out all night, runners, and seagulls. :)

I never did make it all the way down to the glitz of Ocean Drive in the evening (it’s fairly plain during the day) but I did see some pretty art deco architecture along Collins Drive on my walk back to the conference center.

South Beach can be a pretty charming place.
